Most Popular Baby Names of 1977

In 1977, the most popular baby names in the United States were Jennifer for girls and Michael for boys. Jennifer was given to 58,964 girls and Michael to 67,587 boys, according to Social Security card applications.

Across all names, the Social Security Administration recorded 3,176,366 births for names given to at least five babies that year, up from 3,034,106 in 1976.
