Most Popular Baby Names of 1976

In 1976, the most popular baby names in the United States were Jennifer for girls and Michael for boys. Jennifer was given to 59,473 girls and Michael to 66,915 boys, according to Social Security card applications.

Across all names, the Social Security Administration recorded 3,034,106 births for names given to at least five babies that year, up from 3,019,218 in 1975.
